POWER AND GLORY FILMS was appointed to produce mtc's latest television commercial in October 2008. Together with the agency, Advantage Advertising, we selected internationally acclaimed director, Gordon Clark (Velocity Films), to head the project. mtc is Namibia’s largest mobile telecommunications provider with 1 million customers at a overall population of only 2.2 Million! –
The commercial forms part of a national campaign for mtc and is the biggest commercial production, produced and shot by a Namibian company, for Namibian television to date. Certainly a very exciting project to be part of. Together with the agency, Advantage Advertising, we selected internationally acclaimed director, Gordon Clark (Velocity Films), to head the project. He was assisted by cameraman Paul Kruger from South Africa and an internationally experienced, Namibian crew. The new RED ONE digital camera added fantastic creative possibilities to the job. Cast included professional Namibian actors and more than 600 enthusiastic extras. The commercial was shot entirely on location in Namibia. From the modern cityscapes of Windhoek and Makalani lined skyline of Oshakati to the impressive scale and buzzing activity of the dry docks at Walvisbay Harbour, - not to forget the endless shifting sands of the Namibian desert. The production covered roughly 5700 kms during the week of filming and, apart from a couple of sunburns and a few mosquito bites, we wrapped shooting succesfully. Post production and editing was handled by Paul West and the Deepend Studios in Johannesburg. The commercial is currently on air.
